prominent post-its, news, current eventsIt’s finally the weekend! Time to sit back, relax, and read our Prominent Post-its on your device of choice (You know you want to!). What in the world has been happening over the last week? Let’s discuss.

Super Cool Supermoon

This week started off with a bang, in the form of a bloody big and bright supermoon lunar eclipse. Did you see it? It was pretty cool. Facebook immediately hopped on the opportunity and allowed users to update their statuses to specifically share that they were watching the lunar eclipse. What next – an option to change your profile picture to a Face-in-Hole-esque image of your face as the center of the supermoon? I’m sure that already exists somewhere.

Water on Mars!

On Monday, NASA scientists revealed that potentially life-giving water still flows across the ancient surface of Mars. So, is there life on Mars? Can we live on Mars? This evidence at least points to the possibility. And, the search for E.T. continues!

Tweet Your Heart Out

Twitter is working on a new product that will allow users to share tweets that are longer than the company’s 140-character limit, one of its trademark features. This will enable users to publish long-form content to Twitter. Users can already tweet out blocks of text with products like OneShot, but those are simply images, not actual text published on Twitter. CEO, Dorsey, expressed the need for Twitter to reach a more mainstream audience, so the company is mixing things up in hopes of growing its user base. The big question is: Will a long-form option actually grow Twitter’s audience? It could encourage publishers to share directly to Twitter more often, but long-form publishing platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn are pretty colossal competitors. It’s definitely worth a try!

Yelp For People, By Peeple

Billed as a new "Yelp for people," a new app called Peeple lets you review and assign a number rating to every person you know. People from your personal, professional, and romantic life can rate you as a person. Oh, that’s not gag-inducing at all! Well, luckily there are some baselines rules to prevent Peeple from becoming the next troll hangout for troll teen cyberbullying. Slated to launch in late November, brace yourself for some Yelp-style realness – about you.

And there you have it! We hope you enjoyed our take on the interesting and weird things that have gone down in the past week. If you want more, fear not! Simply subscribe to our blogs so you don’t miss out on our recap next week!
