In 2016, our Olympic heroes will be traveling to Brazil, and in 2020, they will be fighting for glory in Japan. But, where will the 2024 Olympics be held?

Well, many Americans are saying Boston. While the decision of where the 2024 Olympics will be hosted on the international level is still in the pipeline, the decision of who'll represent the United States on the Olympic ballot is tomorrow, January 8. Competing against Boston for the lone U.S. spot on the ballot are San Francisco, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles.

With the results rapidly approaching, Boston still remains in the consideration stage of the buyer’s journey. This is the point where the consumer has clearly identified the problem through research and has defined some of the top companies to solve the problem.

In this case, the consumer is the US Olympic Committee and the challenge is selecting one city to represent the United States on the IOC ballot for the 2024 Olympics. Due to well-orchestrated leaks and successful social media utilization, the USOC has become aware of Boston as a potential representative and is considering the city. In order to attain a spot on the ballot, Boston must submit proposals on how the city will afford the multi-billion dollar cost, how they will build the necessary structures, and how they will utilize the structures after the games. But, with such a large price tag on merely getting on the IOC ballot, the consideration stage for the Olympic bid is a long process. Boston must convince USOC board members that they are capable of making the 2024 Olympics the greatest in history.

The USOC has more than budgets and intricate details to consider; they must listen to the people as well. The boosters have kept their plans on the down-low, using solely booster money to back Boston’s candidacy and to protect public opinion because, like any other product, consumer reviews matter. If the people are against Olympics, then the city's potential for making the ballot will be slim.

In the next 24 hours, Boston will need one final push in order to get on the International ballot and trump the larger competing cities. A place on the ballot for the Olympics would be the beginning of Boston's recognition - finally - as a world-class city.
