Do you know what day it is? Of course you do, because it's Friday! Do you know the biggest headlines from this week? Maybe not so much, but that's okay because we have all the recap you need! Take a look at what we've gathered for you in this week's prominent post-its:post_it_news-512893-edited.jpg

A Courtship To Remember

In an interesting turn of events, President Obama announced his nomination for the Supreme Court. His name is Judge Merrick Garland and he is well liked by both political parties because his views are very middle of the line. It is thought that Obama chose Garland because he has the ability to bring the two sides together, but this Congress is doing what this Congress does best, which is nothing. A good amount of Republican Congressmen are still refusing to vote because they believe the American people should have a voice in the nomination by waiting for the next President to take care of things. But wait, wasn’t President Obama also elected by the people? Hmm… sounds a little House Of Cards to me if you know what I mean. If they continue to refuse to vote, the US will be left with an incomplete supreme court for almost an entire year.

An Irish Christmas

Break out your beer, your jolliest outfit, and every green item you own because this week it was St. Patrick’s Day! Where were you celebrating? Well, for those of us who couldn’t quite make it to Ireland for the holiday, here are the top 3 cities to celebrate in:

1. Chicago - They dye the Chicago River green! Thank you plumbers of this great city for truly getting into the spirit.

2. Boston – Known as the Irish capitol of the US, this city goes all out with a huge parade and a 5k race. If you take a walk through the city, it’s almost impossible not to hit a party on every block.

3. NYC – Their parade runs from 11am to 5pm and the entire city hosts a bunch of different bar crawls.

So next time St. Patty’s Day comes around and you’re trying to figure out the best places to get your green beer drinking on, head to one of these cities! Especially since New York had a huge show of unification between the LGBTQ community and the Irish community this year as they marched together, with no protest, down 5th Street.

Attack Of The Primaries: Part Two

You thought Super Tuesday was over didn’t you? Well, think again! This past Tuesday had another surge of primaries. The states that had the biggest influence were Florida and Ohio because they are considered swing states and have a large number of delegates. Rubio thought he had Florida in the bag, but his home state said, ‘ we love you, we just don’t like you’ and went Trump on him. This was such a huge upset that it caused Rubio to bow out from the race. Kasich on the other hand felt all the love from his home state of Ohio, which handed all of their delegates over to him. North Carolina, Missouri, and Illinois (aka the rest of the states that voted) gave their votes to Trump. On the Democratic side, Clinton swept this week, but the only landslide win she had was in Florida. The rest were extremely close. In Missouri she only won by .2%! A lot of people say these wins are a major telling of the future, but I say there are still a lot states left to vote. Remember: March 22nd Arizona, Idaho, American Samoa, and Utah are up! Don’t forget to vote!

The Madness Of March

College basketball season is over and it’s playoff time! You know what that means? You have to break out those brackets and pull out those pens because March madness is here! Many people are betting on the Kansas City Jayhawks to take it all. They are seeded #1 and have the endorsement of the President himself! But Oregon, Virginia, and North Carolina all have the makings of champions so look out Kansas City. There is also one team waiting in the wings, ready to pounce when necessary. That team is Michigan State. Time and time again they have come out on top of teams that are ranked higher than them. So place your bets accordingly and try not to lose all of your belongings.

But First Let Me Change My Algorithm

Instagram is following in the flight path of Twitter by implementing an algorithm that will change the order of your feed. I know, we thought we were in the clear with this seemingly consistent app, but alas, we were wrong. Instead of being in chronological order, the pictures will appear based on their relevance to you. Someone needs to tell the app that they don’t know us like that. The company claims that people miss, on average, 70% of their feed. What remains in question is how changing which pictures are being seen is going to lead to more pictures being viewed. Wouldn’t it make more sense to change their formatting instead? Oh well, we don’t have much of a choice. So bring on the algorithm. Who knows, maybe it’ll improve things, well unless your picture isn’t considered something any of your followers want to see *sigh*.
