This Week's Prominent Post-itsOnce again, it’s time for our traditional Friday news round-up, giving you the weekly scoop! Take a break from the daily grind and check out this week's biggest news stories:

1. Beijing’s Going for the Gold

Beijing just found out it gets to host the 2022 Winter Olympics, which will make it the first city to ever host both the Summer and the Winter Olympics. Apparently, there was some resistance to the bid that centered around the lack of snow – something that most people recognize as an important part of sports like skiing and snowboarding. But, that won’t stop Beijing!

2. Lions and Tigers and…Dentists? Oh, My!
An American dentist invoked the wrath of pretty much everybody this week when he shot and killed Cecil, a beloved lion that lived in a Zimbabwe national park. The Internet has started attacking his business in retaliation, Zimbabwe officials want to extradite him, and even Betty White got angry. He’s responded by issuing a rushed apology and proving his “bravery” by going into hiding. We guess that in this story, it’s not the lion who’s cowardly.

3. A Hands-On Procedure (Literally)
A few days ago, an eight-year-old boy named Zion Harvey became the first child recipient of a double hand transplant. We know; it sounds like the plot of a second-rate sci-fi flick, but it’s actually real life. When he was asked how it felt to wake up with new hands, he said it was “weird at first, but then good” – which we think is in the running for understatement of the century.

4. Bad Boy Brady
Bad news for the New England Patriots: Tom Brady (known to most of the world as “that guy who’s married to supermodel Gisele Bundchen”) is still banned from playing in the first four games of their upcoming season. He’s in trouble with the NFL for allegedly deflating footballs to make them easier to catch, which he denies doing. But, he recently got a new cell phone, so now he’s being accused of getting rid of the old one to destroy evidence. Of course, the NFL has faced controversy before, when high-profile players brutally beat their wives and received absolutely no punishment at all. So, good to know the NFL is really cracking down on the important things…like air pressure and new iPhones.

5. The Dashcam and the Furious
In even more local news, a Medford cop is in a bit of a pickle after a dashcam video was uploaded to YouTube. The video showed him threatening to “blow a hole through” the “f---ing head” of a driver he’d pulled over for a fairly minor traffic violation, and as a result he’s been put on administrative leave. This teaches us an important lesson about what to include in marketing videos: threatening to kill innocent people is apparently bad for business.
