Today the Responsive Inbound Marketing team was given the opportunity to host an Inbound Marketing Challenge at the Startup Institute of Boston!  The Startup Institute is an incredibly unique educational opportunity for those interested in working for a Startup company.  According to the institute, they are dedicated to “helping individuals gain the skills, mindset, and network to succeed in jobs at startups.”  Check out our experience we had while leading the inbound challenge!

Walking into the Institute, we were greeted by a group of friendly and energetic people.  It was an open atmosphere full of collaboration and critical thinking. It only makes sense that an institution dedicated to preparing students to enter startups actually feels like a startup itself!  The creative juices (as well as coffee) were flowing freely on this Wednesday morning.

What is the Startup Institute? The Startup Institute is nothing like a traditional school. Students join an 8-week full or part time program centered on startups.  They come from all walks of life, which creates a unique dynamic.  Some are fresh out of college while others have been in various professional industries for many years. The student’s interests vary between finance, analytics, digital and even creative.  What they all have in common is that they have a passion for the wonderful world of startups.  The startup institute provides a place to learn and utilize necessary skills while also making meaningful connections in the industry.

After introductions, the students jumped right into their challenge for the day: to create an inbound strategy for a small mom and pop coffee shop.  After splitting into groups they jumped right into strategy. They discussed ROI, cost analysis and blogging among many other aspects of Inbound Marketing. It was very clear to our team that these students were eager to collaborate with one another and create unique marketing strategies.  They had extremely insightful questions for our team, leaving us quite impressed.

Could startup institutes be the future of education?  With rising tuition costs maybe students will focus more on career-based education such as this. Either way, we had a great experience at the Startup Institute and can’t wait to see what the future holds for the company and the industry.
