Did you know that over 30 million small businesses currently have active Facebook pages? However, not every type of business has the ability to attract a lot of fans. The big question is: what kind of businesses are customers most interested in “liking” on Facebook? According to a recent study, the most popular Facebook business pages are restaurants, with 38 percent of respondents reporting they are the type of business they most want to engage with on the platform. If your restaurant is not yet on Facebook, it’s time you add it to your digital marketing menu! And, if you are on Facebook, here are 4 key ways to socially succeed with your restaurant Facebook page!

  1. Completely fill out your “About” section.

This may seem like a no brainer, but filling out the “About” section on your business’s Facebook page is incredibly important. Not only does it help visitors find out where you’re located, what your hours are, and what kind of food you serve, but it also helps potential customers discover that you exist in the first place.

  1. Use drool-worthy images.

Facebook is a visual platform and Facebook users love to engage with photos. In fact, photos on Facebook get 53 percent more likes, 104 percent more comments, and have an 84 percent higher click-through rate than any other type of Facebook post. And, people are especially interested in food pictures. This means that restaurants have a huge advantage in their ability to stand out in someone’s Facebook feed by merely posting photos of what is being served up that day. Make your food pictures look appetizing!

  1. Respond promptly to customer reviews.

According to a recent study, people are more likely to purchase something in-store if there are positive reviews about the business on Facebook, making it clear that online social reputation has a big in-store impact. If your restaurant has several negative reviews that are ignored on your Facebook page, potential customers who see those are likely not going to choose to visit your restaurant. However, if negative reviews are responded to quickly and professionally, potential customers will see that your restaurant is dedicated to righting any wrongs with customers and will feel better about visiting. In addition, the more you can do to encourage positive reviews on your page, the more people will want to dine with you. Place signage around your restaurant that directs people to your Facebook page and have your wait staff encourage customers to leave their thoughts on the page as well. Make sure you respond to positive comments as well as negative comments to show customers you are thankful for their support, which will help you create better lasting relationships with them.

  1. Update often with your daily specials!

When people like a Facebook page, it’s often because they want to be alerted to deals and specials that they can take advantage of. In fact, 84 percent of respondents say that local deals and offers are important to their decision to purchase items in-store. While your restaurant does not necessarily need to constantly run Facebook offers, posting about your daily specials, happy hour prices, or special events is a great way to influence people to visit you over your competitors.

Now you can take these 4 tips and run with them! Take advantage of Facebook’s capabilities and make your restaurant’s digital marketing presence irresistible.
