So, now that you have built an excellent landing page, what’s next? Well, create a thank you page that's equally awesome of course!

Inbound marketing is all about conversion, which means it is often action-focused, but don’t stop there. Once you get customers to click, do more than just simply thank them. You want to thank them and continue to engage them. How To Create A Thank You Page

According to Unbounce, “thank you pages are much more than pieces of virtual real estate on which to display gratitude and order numbers. These pages are an integral part of an optimized conversion system that, when used properly, can continue to boost your revenue”. So, take advantage of that real estate and keep take conversion to the next level with effective thank you pages.

Good Manners

First, make sure you have a thank you page that people are redirected to after they provide their information. This is marketing 101—thank your leads and be sincere. This is where you give them the goods….and possibly entice them to want more. You know how in the grocery store they entice you with the Reece’s Peanut Butter Cups right by the register, well, think of your thank you page as a way to sweeten the deal.

Here is an example from Jigsaw Health, taking advantage of the fact that the person is already in “buyer mode”—upping the ante with a limited-time offer. You have already done the “hard part” by converting them to a buyer, now keep that momentum going. Vistaprint also does a great job of this once customers place an order.

Deliver On Your Promise

Once you say thank you, foster good relationships by delivering on your end of the deal. Provide appropriate links to content or instructions on how to download the free guide. It is also a good idea to display your site’s regular navigation so people stick around and provide SM buttons to encourage social sharing (which means more leads for you!).

Here we see that not only does Nature Box encourage social sharing by making it easy and obvious, they also offer an amazing discount. By thanking lead for entering a contest and offering a coupon, they are beginning to build the relationship before they are even paying customers. Nailed it!

Friendly Reminders

One fact that is fairly surprising is that the biggest “hurdle” to overcome when offering free goods to leads is getting them to actually cash in on them, particularly when it comes to a webinar or online training. It turns out that many people forget that they even signed up! Aweber uses their thank you as a great opportunity to remind readers that they signed up, when the event is, and even offer to save it to their calendar. The countdown timer helps build excitement.

Live On Through Links

Finally, create a thank you page to guide people to additional relevant content. If someone just  signed up for a complimentary guide on wood carving basics, point them to other helpful places on your site, such as wood carving tools, carving design templates, and a wood carving enthusiast forum. Wisely linking to additional content further qualifies leads. In the example below from HubSpot, they’re encouraging readers to learn more about their services and sign up for another free goody, in this case a live demo.
