The weather is getting colder and the advertisement section of the newspaper is getting thicker, which can only mean one thing: Christmas is coming. And with Christmas comes the end of the year and what a year it was. Seattle Seahawks wins Super Bowl XLVIII for the first time in franchise history, George Clooney ties the knot, and Apple reveals the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. What a year! But, what will 2015 bring? More celebrity scandals? Probably! New apps that will claim to change the way we use our phones? Count on it! What about us marketers? What will 2015 bring us? Well, here are 3 Marketing Trends to Expect in 2015!

  1. Mobile First

With all the tablets and smartphones out there, you would think that mobile formatting would be a priority for marketers. Somehow, it hasn’t been. Marketing is still made for the computer then converted for mobile devices. Well, times are changing. With advancements of tablets and smartphones and the birth of the increasingly popular phablet (phone/tablet) mobile marketing is going to become more and more important in 2015. Start creating content for mobile use first and not as an afterthought!

  1. Wearable Technology

Technology took another turn in recent years with the creation of wearable technology. If the idea of wearing a phone on your wrist makes you cringe and wearing smart glasses scares you, you are in for a long year. Wearable technology is growing exponentially more popular and that means marketing needs to adjust… again. Create your content plan for next year now and be sure to incorporate a plan for wearable technology.

  1. Make Your Business Personable

People no longer respond to corporate jargon and dull messages, they want human interaction. This has already become a trend, but in the coming year will become even more important! This is the year to be personable and show your clients and viewers that you are not just some corporation, but you are in fact human! Interact with viewers and speak their language, not corporate lingo.

While 2015 is sure to be another unpredictable year, do the best you can to be ready for what the world throws at you! Every year, marketing changes! Make sure you are keeping up and not following into to an old routine. Don’t be afraid of change, change is a good thing and will help bring you success! In the words of Winston Churchill, “To improve is to change, to be perfect is to change often”.
