Happy Friday everyone. Congratulations, we made it! And with less than six days until the glorious Turkey Day, we have lots to celebrate, but first – let’s catch up on this week’s happenings.prominent post its responsive inbound marketing

A Match Made in IPO Heaven

Match Group (MTCH), which owns online dating sites like Match, Tinder, OKCupid, etc. went public on Thursday by parent company IAC (IACI). And Square (SQ) the mobile payment startup made its debut on Wall Street as well. On the first day of trading, sales of both the IPOs surged. Will investors swiping right on these shares bode well for the future?

Microsoft Updates Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity and preventing stolen data is a key priority in the software industry, especially after a number of high-profile attacks. Microsoft spends over $1 billion in security research and development every year. They are planning a site where employees work around the clock to analyze data and respond in real-time to threats. Hopefully, with revamped security we won’t be forced to read emails on how much more money all the Hollywood stars are making, than us lowly Average Joes.

Is bigger always better?

Marriott International recently purchased Starwood Hotels and Resorts for $12.2 billion. No small sum for such a significant merger. Now, we have the world’s largest hotel company, with more than 5,500 owned or franchised hotels around the world. But many rewards members are worried about their history with the hotels. The deal isn’t going to close until the middle of 2016, so maybe it’s time to start booking your vacations!

Charlie Sheen is in Headlines Again

It pains me to write about this hot mess of a man. However, it is newsworthy and duty calls. Sheen announced that is HIV positive this week. And then every news outlet on earth decided to beat the topic to death.

Democratic Debate

What were you doing last Saturday night? If you’re like most of America your answer is probably, ‘not watching the Democratic Debate.’ In spite of the fact that very few people watched the debate, polls show that Hillary Clinton was the victor.

This week’s Prominent Post-Its are a bit different. We like to keep a light-hearted approach to the news but we feel the need to mention the tragedies in Paris. The people of Paris are in our thoughts here at Responsive Inbound Marketing. We hope for peace and relief from the terror.
