While last week was filled with political craziness, this week was filled with emotional craziness. It was a roller coaster of emotions as we lost some beloved legends, but gained some legendary reunions. Let’s take a look at the highs and lows of this ride, here are this week's prominent post-its!post_it_news-512893-edited-15.jpg

1. Oscar Noms Are Out A.k.a. Leo’s Arch Nemesis Has Arrived

Finally the Oscar nominations have been announced and things are looking good for Leo, but lets be honest, that means nothing. Our trust has been broken too many times for us to hope again! Unfortunately the snubs include Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It garnered a lot of production nods, but was left out of the major award categories. I guess the academy is immune to the force. Straight Outta Compton also got snubbed because, even though it was nominated for best screenplay, that’s all it was nominated for. A biopic with a $30 million budget to gain over $200 million and not be nominated for an Oscar just doesn’t add up. The cast and crew should join up with Quinton Tarantino, who was also snubbed, and have their own party. I’m sure Quinton has enough awards to go around.

2. An Unpredictable Assassin Has Taken Over Space! Beam Me Up Scotty!

A star that astronomers have deemed ‘Assassin’ decided to spontaneously combust this week, but it wasn’t just any star or any little explosion. This was the largest supernova that scientists have ever discovered. Get this: it's 570 billion times brighter than our sun! That's crazy! Rihanna, I know you want to shine bright like a diamond, but I want to shine bright like Assassin if that’s okay with you. Thank goodness it was over 3 billion light-years away or else we would be sctual space dust. I think we can all agree that we can’t be evaporated until Leo finally wins that Oscar or we get a Friends reunion, or maybe, both?

3. Could Friends BE Coming Back?

The rumor mill is spinning a big web with headlines claiming a Friends reunion, but we’ve been through this multiple times already. I’m still waiting for that Thanksgiving episode we were promised! So what makes this seem true this time? Well, normally the cast is the first group of people to deny the claims, but this time they seem to be on board with them! Tweets have been sent and comments have been made! I shouldn’t say everyone will take part, though. Apparently Chandler, our beloved patron of sarcasm, can’t make it to do the reunion because he’s rehearsing for some job of his that I can never remember. Oh well, who knows, maybe he’s just trying to be sneaky and will actually surprise us all at the reunion. We can hope, right?

4. Obama Dropped That State Of The Union Mic Like It's Hot

That’s right my friends the President has flown for the last time. He had his final State Of The Union address this week. He talked about his awesomeness, America’s awesomeness, and an unnamed republican candidate’s ridiculousness. Donald Trump wasn’t specifically mentioned, but a lot of people believe Obama made some pointed remarks in his direction. Donald Trump’s remark: the entire speech was a bore. Darn, I guess Obama shouldn’t have canceled that soaring bald eagle that was to make it’s home in Donald’s hair for the remainder of the speech. I’m sure the next president is taking notes though so don’t you worry.

5. The Loss Of Two Legends In One Week

We have to talk about it. I’m sorry. It’s hard and frustrating, but lets not dwell on the pain. Let us use this time to remember the good. This week we lost David Bowie and Alan Rickman. They were two great entertainers who moved through the decades with grace and humility. The impact that they had on multiple generations lives on in the lives of millions around the world. To David Bowie: You made us feel infinite, now it’s your turn. To Alan Rickman: You spent your career playing the bad guy, but you spent your life teaching the good. Thank you both.
