As all business bloggers know, there’s a lot more to blogging than just writing stellar posts. There are a lot of other things to consider when writing a blog post, and arguably the biggest one is readership. A blog doesn’t mean much without an audience, so after polishing your latest post and publishing it to your website, your next step is probably social media promotion. But, it can be difficult to make your promotional content stand out – and that’s where we come in! We’ve found some of the best promotional tactics for each of the four biggest social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest. So, check out these essential blog marketing tips for promoting your blog like nobody’s business:

Facebook: Share on Your Personal Profile

Facebook is currently the biggest social media platform, so it’s a great place to promote your blog and your business – but only if your followers actually see your posts. You can ask them to add you to their See First lists, but how do you reach the followers that don’t add you? It’s actually as simple as sharing the post to your own personal Facebook profile. Doing this marks your post as content that people want to share, which makes it more likely to show up on your followers’ newsfeeds. Plus, you’ve now shared it with a whole new group of people – your Facebook friends list! All it takes is the click of a button, and you’ve increased the audience of your post – and, consequently, your blog. Just be sure that you actually use the share function, and don’t just repost it!

Twitter: Pin to Your Page

The fast pace of Twitter means that posts can get buried quickly. Most people will post at least once every few hours on Twitter, which means that posts don’t have much time at the top of the page. If your followers don’t log on at the right time, they might miss the post about your blog altogether. Luckily, there’s a way to keep it top-of-mind – pin it to the top of your own profile! You can do this by choosing one of your own tweets, clicking on the icon with three dots, and selecting “Pin to your profile page.” And, you can change which tweet is pinned as often as you like. This does mean that your followers will have to actually visit your profile page to see the pinned post, but it’s still a good way to cast a spotlight on your most important posts.

LinkedIn: Post a Teaser

When you head to LinkedIn to promote your blog, there are a few different posting options to choose from. Most people will decide on “Sharing an Update” when they’re promoting a blog post – it’s like a Facebook status, and lets you post a link with a short description. But, if you want your blog post to really stand out, you should consider choosing to “Publish a Post.” With this option, you have more space to write, which means more content to interest your audience. A great way to take advantage of this extra space is to write a little teaser for your blog. Introduce your topic, give some background, include an eye-grabbing image, and get your audience engaged. Once your readers are hooked, you can lead them straight to your blog with a link and a promise of what they’ll find. After that, it’s just a matter of delighting them with your blog’s content!

Pinterest: Create a Blog Board

Pinterest is a highly visual platform, but that doesn’t mean that it’s only for businesses that sell beautiful physical products – it’s more versatile than you might think. As long as you pair your blog post with a compelling image, your posts will work perfectly with Pinterest’s format. And, a key aspect of Pinterest is its staying power. Unlike most of the other social media platforms, Pinterest’s format is perfect for keeping posts circulating for days, weeks, or even months at a time. The best way to post your blog promotion on Pinterest is to create a board specifically for your blog posts, so that it’s easy for other users to find your posts or even follow the board to see all of your new posts!

Now, you don’t have to stress about the social media side of things anymore! With these promotional tips, you’ll always know the best ways to find an audience for your blog posts. Impress your readers with your social media skills!
